Description: Regression Test is the process of selective retesting of systems and system components to verify that changes made to the system have not caused unintended effects and/or to identify the impact of the change.
Regression testing takes place throughout the testing phases of the project. Regression testing that is required because of defects found in other testing types is referred to as late cycle regression testing. This type of regression testing, by its nature, cannot be planned and for the purposes of this testing strategy will not be stated as a separate testing type. Instead, management of this type of testing will be incorporated into the test defect process.
