Contact information and organizational information is accessible to view by anyone at Yale with access to Workday. Managers and those with HR roles have further access to view job-related information.
Banner, Yale's Student Information System, continues to be the system of record for students' personal information. However, Workday is the system of record for student employment data. Students who work at Yale are able to do things in Workday such as view their pay slip and set up direct deposit.
Today at Yale, the Oracle chart of accounts (or ‘Charging Instructions’) is made up of multiple segments commonly known as the ‘PTAEO’ (Project, Task, Award, Expenditure Type, and Organization). When we implement our new Workday Financials system we will shift to using charging instructions made up of multiple segments that are specific to the Workday system. Until March 2016, the Workday@Yale team used the term Financial Data Model (FDM) to represent the Workday Chart of Accounts, the full Workday data structure and individual segments of the chart of accounts. This terminology has been clarified and is included on the Chart of Accounts website.
Employees request leaves of absence in Workday, while requesting paid time off (PTO, vacation time, etc.) and time tracking is still completed in My Time (Kronos).
